About

I’m Chris Hildebrandt, a seasoned IT professional with a diverse background in infrastructure, virtualization, and end-user computing (EUC). Often described as a jack-of-all-trades with deep expertise in select areas, I bring practical, real-world insights to complex technology challenges.

My career in IT began at the helpdesk level, where I honed foundational troubleshooting and support skills. I soon advanced to an IT Administrator role at a John Deere dealership, introducing me to VMware virtualization. I quickly became passionate about its potential to drive efficiency and was further exposed to VMware View (now Horizon) for virtual desktop infrastructure.

Subsequent roles expanded my experience significantly. At an insurance company, I led efforts to virtualize the server environment and later transitioned the desktop infrastructure to virtual solutions. I then joined a mid-sized toxicology company as an Infrastructure specialist, where an acquisition by a large medical devices firm provided exposure to a broad array of technologies and architectural towers, accelerating my professional growth.

Today, as a Solutions Architect, I design EUC solutions that help clients achieve their strategic objectives. My transition from hands-on customer-side roles to the value-added reseller ecosystem uniquely positions me to deliver designs grounded in practical implementation—ensuring decisions balance innovation with real-world feasibility and long-term success.

Outside of work, I was born and raised in rural Kansas, growing up on a farm outside the small town of Princeton, southwest of Olathe. I now enjoy family life with my wife, two stepdaughters, and son. In my free time, I recharge through outdoor pursuits, including hiking, fishing, hunting, competitive shooting (such as USPSA matches), long-range precision shooting, or simply spending time in the woods, by a lake, or on a pond.

Through this blog, I share insights from my journey in IT, focusing on virtualization, EUC, and infrastructure best practices to help fellow professionals navigate similar challenges.

Disclosure

For those of you that don’t know me, I went to school literally in the middle of a cornfield. So that explains my lack of spelling and general English skills. That is my excuse anyway, but I really just hated English class. Please just let me know if there are any grammatical errors and I will do my best to fix them.

It has been added on a few times since I went there. We did not have the whole sports complex to the south it was a pasture before.
